Will investigate common forest health issues faced by Washington communities and the resulting impacts on people who live within them.

Developed by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources Urban & Community Forestry Program, will focus on how to identify and manage threats to forest health for the sake of people living in urban, suburban, and wildland-urban interface communities. Learn about managing your community trees and forests for maximum benefit. Topics will include:

  • Research on the public health benefits of community trees and forests
  • Environmental factors affecting forest health
  • Common insects and diseases affecting trees in the Pacific Northwest
  • The challenges of invasive species and their impacts on our landscapes
  • The complex of issues contributing to wildland fire risk
  • Efforts by DNR, the Washington Invasive Species Council and others to protect forest health

 The seminar is free to attend; all are welcome.
