Kid’s Fishing Day- special needs day

Kids Outdoor Education (KOE), a local non-profit group, is organizing two days of fishing for kids between the ages of 5 and 14 and local residents with special needs.

Friday, April 20, the annual Special Needs Fishing Event will be held at Columbia Park Pond in Kennewick. Participants will need to register with the ARC of Tri-Cities or by phone at 509-783-1131. The event will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

 On Saturday, April 21, the annual Kids Fishing Day will be held, also at Columbia Park Pond in Kennewick. Fishing times are scheduled at 8:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. Registration is $10. A new rod and reel is included with your registration. The Saturday event fills fast so please register as early as possible. Register at the Kennewick Parks & Recreation office, by mail or online only; No phone registrations accepted. No Registration accepted on site day of activity!

 Registration Deadlines: Mail-in registration must be received by April 17th. Online registration deadline is April 19th.

 The pond will be stocked with over 6,000 trout for the two events. In addition, many of the fish will be tagged. A great selection of prizes, all donated by local businesses, will be awarded for tagged fish caught during the events. There will be plenty of volunteers on hand to help out and there is even a fish cleaning station! Event t-shirts will be available for sale as well as hot dogs & pop.
