Open space, trails, family friendly outdoor activities - all are commonly listed as positive contributions to quality of life. There are a number of well-known places in and around the Tri-Cities to hike and recreate, yet there are many more that are not familiar even to long-time residents, including the Tapteal Greenway.  Did you know Tapteal Greenway is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that takes care of Amon Creek Natural Preserve, Chamna Natural Preserve, W.E. Johnson Park, and has established a land and water trail from Bateman Island to Benton City along the lower Yakima River?  Tapteal Greenway is dedicated to conservation, education, and recreation for all ages along the lower Yakima River, and loves introducing people of all ages to the many cool things that make the Tapteal trail corridor so unique.  Hiking, birdwatching, horseback riding, bicycling, and kayaking are all available on the Tapteal Trail and Tapteal Water Trail, both of which are critical wildlife corridors.

Bring the family, invite a neighbor, and come learn about the local treasures along the Tapteal Greenway, and how important it is for all of us to take care of, respect, and hold on to the open space we have. In the words of Jacques Cousteau: "People will protect the things they love."
